Other Projects:
The RD Center has funded the pre-development costs and startup costs for the development of a Maryland Capital Enterprises a micro-loan program by Working Capital Delaware for the Eastern Shore through a grant from the Rural Business-Cooperative Service, USDA and Delaware-Maryland Rural Development, USDA.
The RD Center funded, developed and maintains 5 state-of-art@ internet sites with graphics, text, charts and photos for the four lower shore counties, municipalities, economic development departments, tourism, continuing events with links to federal, state, UMES, and private home pages on the Internet. skipjack.net, smartmove.org, co-options.coop, umes.net and chesapeakebiz.org are funded through grants from the Economic Development Administration and the Rural Business-Cooperative Service, USDA. The Center is a cooperator with RB-CS, USDA 1890 Initiative for Bisnet an Internet Website for information for business development.

The RC Center jointly funded with Bell Atlantic and Conectiv an economic development promotional CD-ROM for MD First Congressional District 10 counties.
The RD Center received 3 RB-CS, USDA grants for development of cooperatives assistance to assist the Smith Island Crabmeat Cooperative located in the Chesapeake Bay which as formed with technical assistance form the Center and with RD USDA funding (see Farmer Cooperative, USDA magazine November, 1995) to expand into other ventures. Two Communications Cooperatives have been organized. Additional assistance is for a greenhouse grower's cooperative with the small Farm Institute, UMES, and a clam raising cooperative.

Technical Assistance in Economic Development:

5 Technical and entrepreneurial training to meet requirements of future jobs

7 Encourage and support with technical assistance in grantsmanship a broad range of development programs

Applied Research:
1 Isolate key socio economic interrelationships between urban and rural areas
